Emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulations typically feature active ingredients within the range of 0.1 to 40 wt.%, extending up to 70 wt.%. In this formulation, the active ingredient dissolves in a water-insoluble organic solvent. Due to the added emulsifying agents, this solution transforms into an emulsion upon mixing with water.
A critical aspect for the spontaneous formation of a stable emulsion is the adjustment of the correct HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance), often achieved through a combination of anionic/non-ionic emulsifiers.
The formulation is intended for dilution with water before application (spray mixture).
