Suspension Concentrates (SC)
In SC formulations the active ingredient content can generally be between 10-70 wt %. The pesticide is present as water-insoluble solid particles. The particle size is also dependent on the fabrication method (i.e., type of mill, milling time). Together with anionic/non-ionic wetting and dispersing agents a suspension is formed. For a long-term stable formulation, the settlement of the particles must be inhibited. To achieve this polymeric or inorganic viscosity stabilizer are usually employed.
Key-factors:
- Pesticide must be water-insoluble, ideally brittle crystals
- The viscosity has to be adjusted to avoid settlement of the pesticide
