Oil Dispersion (OD)

For an OD formulation, the pesticide is suspended in a water-insoluble organic solvent. Together with emulsifying agents, the solution will form a dispersion when mixed with water.

For a long-term stable formulation, the active must be oil in-soluble and thermodynamically stable to avoid recrystallization. The employed adjuvants can also enhance the biological efficacy.

Key-factors:

  • Pesticide must be insoluble in water immiscible solvent
  • Actives with high melting point
  • Crystal formation and sedimentation have to be suppressed
