Soluble Concentrate (SL)

Soluble concentrate (SL) formulations typically contain active ingredient(s) between 10.0 - 50.0 wt.%, with the active ingredient dissolved in water or a water-soluble organic solvent. To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the spray mixture, penetration enhancers and wetting agents are often included.

For a long-term stable formulation, the active ingredient must be resistant to hydrolysis. When dealing with ionic active ingredients, a high level of foam could form. In such cases, water-insoluble co-formulants, such as defoaming agents, may be added to address this issue.

Another crucial factor is to prevent the formation of crystals, especially when stored in cold conditions.

The formulation is intended for dilution with water before application (spray mixture).

Key-factors:

  • Active ingredient(s) must be soluble and stable in water (or polar solvent)
  • No crystal formation under cold storage conditions
  • Resistance to hydrolysis for a long-term stability
